Stretch marks – medically called striae – occur when the skin is overstressed, such as during rapid adolescent growth, severe weight fluctuations, during pregnancy, or when taking special medications such as cortisone.

Irreparable tears in the subcutis occur. The abdomen, hips and buttocks are usually affected, but also the chest and upper arms. The phenomenon occurs equally in women and men. Strictly speaking, stretch marks are scars and as such can never be completely removed.

Therefore, the goal of various therapeutic approaches is to improve the condition of stretch marks and visually reduce the size of the marks.

Stretch marks can be removed with the help of laser treatments, especially with a so-called breaking laser procedure. This involves the targeted destruction of the skin into small, superficial areas, which stimulates the body to produce new collagen and regenerate the skin structure. The number and intensity of laser treatments depends on the type and severity of the stretch marks. However, it is important to note that complete removal of stretch marks is usually not possible and the result may vary from person to person.
