Stretch marks - medically called striae - occur when the skin is overstressed, such as during rapid adolescent growth, severe weight fluctuations, during pregnancy or when taking special medications such as cortisone.
Irreparable tears occur in the subcutaneous tissue. The abdomen, hips and buttocks are usually affected, but also the chest and upper arms. The phenomenon occurs equally in women and men. Strictly speaking, stretch marks are scars and as such can never be completely removed.
Therefore, the goal of the various therapeutic approaches is to improve the condition of the stretch marks and to visually reduce the stripes.
